Information for Swimming
19/06/2019
8:40

Dear Parents and Carers

As you are aware, swimming lessons are scheduled for weeks 9&10. Thank you to anyone who volunteered to help supervise changing. Unfortunately we didn’t get enough volunteers to make this option viable, so the children will need to travel back to school to be changed.

During swimming please provide:

  •       At least 2 towels ( and perhaps an extra hair towel)
  •       A warm jumper to put over bathers to travel back to school in/ or a robe
  •       A warm pair of track pants to travel back in
  •       Warm uniform options to change into back at school
  •       Underwear
  •       A pair of thongs or easy slip ons to travel to the pool
  •       Proper closed in shoes for back at school
  • Plastic Bag for wet clothing

Please label EVERYTHING.

The canteen will open to accommodate the times of the sessions. Remember the canteen is closed on Monday.

It is always advisable to send extra food during these weeks as students tend to get very hungry.

Swimming Payments
07/06/2019
13:35

Good morning Parents and  Carers

I apologise for the confusion over due dates for our Interm Swimming.  Just to clarify, Cannington Leisureplex require numbers today so if you can make a payment today it will be appreciated so we can confirm numbers with the pool but do understand if you can’t make payment until the due date.

We still have over 145 students not paid for swimming, can you please ensure that swimming payments are made by Wednesday 12th June and that both the permission form AND the swimming enrolment form are handed in.  Both forms were attached together when given out to students.

Thank you and again I do apologise for any confusion caused.

Kind regards

NAIDOC Day Celebrations
29/05/2019
12:50

Good morning Parents and Carers,

Our school will be celebrating NAIDOC Day this year on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th June.  This year’s theme is

“Voice. Treaty. Truth. Let’s work together for a shared future.”

On Wednesday 19th June we are having a Free Dress Day for students. They can wear any clothing in either the Aboriginal or Torres Strait colours.

On Thursday 20th June we have a day of excitement planned for our students, including a visit by the Wadumbah Dance group, boomerang throwing and kangaroo meat tasting on the agenda for the day.

At the moment, we’re looking for volunteers to come and lend a hand.  If you’re able to help out on the day, please notify Cathy Wolfenden at Catherine.wolfenden@education.wa.edu.au or by phoning the school.

Kind regards

Keeping our children safe
17/05/2019
15:25

Dear KPS families

Let’s work together to keep our children safe.

Use the paths and cross walk

All families are asked to use the crosswalk with the crossing attendant before and after school if you need to cross the road. We have had bright blue footprints added to the pathway just outside the school and entering the school grounds near the Kindergarten. Please help keep everyone safe by walking on the pathways.  Walking through the staff carpark is not permitted.  We have had a couple of near misses over the last week whereby parents and their children have crossed the road without using the crosswalk and from cutting through the staff carpark. We appreciate your support in keeping everyone coming to and from our school safe.

Playing on school playgrounds afterschool

Please remember that unless parents have a meeting with a teacher, all families should have left school grounds by 3.20pm. We encourage families who would like to play together afterschool to use the Rushton Park playground facilities across the road. Thank you.

Kiss’n’Drive

Thank you to all families who have been using the Kiss’n’Drive in a systematic manner to avoid traffic congestion around the school. Please continue to inform the school office is you notice people parking and leaving their car unattended in the Kiss’n’Drive.

Kind regards

Harmony Day Thursday 21st March
20/03/2019
10:50

Good morning Parents, Carers and Staff

Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. In schools we celebrate inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for all Australians, from the traditional owners of the land to those who have come from many countries around the world.

Harmony Day occurs on 21 March each year and coincides with the United Nations' International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

The ongoing theme of Harmony Day is ‘everyone belongs’. Harmony Day is a day of cultural respect for all.

At Kelmscott Primary we will be celebrating by asking all children to wear orange, the colour of Harmony Day. All students will be posting a message on Seesaw to tell how we ensure “Everyone belongs…” here at Kelmscott Ps, so be sure to check out your child’s account.

Kind regards
