Thank you again to those families for supporting us to keep everyone safe by keeping your children home. Thank you also to those of you who have informed us of this officially with an email or a call.
The students who are here today will be receiving a letter to keep us updated as to your situation as we recognise that some families have commitments as essential workers.
Please call or email the school if you have kept you child home and have not informed the school as to whether this is for the foreseeable future.
Please take care and stay safe.
There are still a number of families who haven't collected their school photos yet. The office is open if you wish to come and collected them by the end of the week.
I am attaching a letter from Hon Sue Ellery MLC - Minister for Education that was sent to me last night. It basically outlines my previous posts. It stresses the importance that if you can keep your children at home, you are encouraged to do so.
I would like to say thank you yo all of our families who have let us know that they will be keeping their children at home from next week for the reminder of the term. Thank you for doing your part to keep us all safe. Also, to our families who are essential workers and need to send their children, be assured that although things will look very different at school, we will care for your child. Thank you for doing your part for the entire community.
Please if you can, keep your children home.
If you intend to keep your child home after today, call the office or email email@example.com to let us know.
What Term 2 and beyond will look like is not clear yet. I will keep you posted as I know. I will also let you know when work packages will be available. This will all be decided during the pupil free days in Week 10 from 6-9 April.
If I do not see you before we get back to normal, please take care. Keep healthy and keep strong. I know we will get through this together. Thank you again for your support.
Reminders about entering classes and the school grounds will go up on doors and gates today. Please do not take offence. We are just trying to do our very best during these difficult times to keep everyone healthy and safe.
School photos will be sent home with students that are at school today. If you ordered school photos, but your child is not at school today, please come and collect your school photos from the office tomorrow during the day. Please call the office on 9233 8950 ten minutes prior to arriving at the office so we can have it ready for you. We are wanting to save your ‘wait’ time. Thank you for your continued understanding in this difficult time.
We have a few students away that we have not been notified about. Please contact the school via our app, the phone or email so we can updfate your child's records. There is no judgement at this difficult time and we respect your choice to keep you child home.
Keep safe and keep in touch.
We are still here if you need us.
Please if you come to the school during the day report to the office and we will pass on any messages to your child or their teacher. We are trying to reduce the number of people in the school at all times. Additionally, if you need something of your child's or something from the class please wait at the office and one of the staff in admin will go to the class for you. We will attempt to put signs on gates but we may not get to that today.
If you have any records to update for your children e.g. telephone number, email address or medical records can you please email the school firstname.lastname@example.org so that we make sure all of our records are upto date.
In an attempt to support continuity of learning for those families choosing to keep children at home please check out the resources that are being provided for K-6 students on the Department of Education website.
You were previously notified by the School App and Facebook about the Open Day for Belridge Secondary College. Unfortunatley we have had to cancel our Open Day.
Registrations for our Cricket Skills Testing day at the WACA on 2 April remain open and we are still encouraging applications. However, should the WACA decide to postpone we will contact applicants direct.
Thank you for your support.

I want to keep you all updated as I receive updates from the Department of Education in regards to COVID-19.
The latest information and advice has some implications for our school and to ensure everyone at our school is safe we will be putting in precautionary methods.
The best thing we can do to protect ourselves is quality personal hygiene - as we would in the winter flu season. That includes covering coughs and sneezes, washing hands often with soap or sanitiser and to stay home from work or school if they are unwell.
Tomorrow Room 15 are holding their Assembly. We look forward to seeing families there to support our students.
Just a reminder that Running Club starts this Wednesday 11 March from 8.00-8.30am. We look forward to seeing you all there.
The dental clinic will be closed from 9 March until 20 March 2020.
For emergencies please contact the Padbury Dental Clinic on 9401 7285.
A reminder to parents the car park is not a Kiss n Ride area. It is for staff parking only. Please refrain from using the staff car park as a drop off or pick up zone.
Colour blindness means that a person cannot distinguish some colours or see the colours differently to other people. Very few people who are colour blind are ‘blind’ to all colours. Commonly, the colours seen differently are greens, yellows, oranges and reds.
An information leaflet on colour blindness will be distributed to all Pre-primary students in term One. Please take the time to read the pamphlet.
For more information and see the Colour Blind Awareness and Support Group on http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/~doverton/
If you have any concerns, colour vision testing can be performed by some general practitioners, eye specialists or optometrists. You can also contact your local Community Health Nurse, Stacey Kelly on 0424 085 091.

Students are bringing home their photo envelopes today. This year we are very excited to be going with a new photography company called "3P Photography." This change has been endorsed by the school board last year and their product looks amazing.
If you would like a sibling photo, please go to the library before school or after school on the photo day. You DO NOT need a separate envelope for the sibling photos. Please record sibling orders on your oldest child's envelope.
All information regarding ordering can be found on the student photo envelopes.
If you have any questions regarding school photos, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Welcome to our first weekly update for 2020.
It has been a fabulous start to the term. Everyone has been so eager and happy to learn together. We welcome back all of our existing staff and have welcomed some new staff members Miss France Year 4/5, Mrs Howie- EA Year 2/3, Mrs Osborne -EA PP and Mrs Ellis - EA Kindy.
Mrs McInnes has taken on the role in Kindy. Mrs Terry-Short has taken on French! Miss Fondacaro is teaching Drama and Science. Mrs Sublet is teaching Phys Ed and literacy support.
We are so excited about Stage One of our playground makeover. Talking to the students they have told us that they love it and "it is so much than before!" The opportunities to learn outside are endless. Mrs Pires and I are meeting with a company on Monday to plan Stage 2 and our new "imaginative" playground.
Hopefully our painting will all be finished this weekend. The painters are doing a fantastic job making sure that what they do lasts and looks great. being near the ocean has caused some issues with rust but hopefully all the preparation they have done this time will mean our school will look beautiful for many years.
Once again, I have loved walking around the school and seeing the learning that is happening. I continue to love my chats in the library before school and my highlight was meeting all of Kindy students this week.
Next week we look forward to our Pizza Day Camp Fundraiser on Friday.
Teachers will all be setting up their Seesaw accounts and letting families know when they will be holding their class meetings over the next two weeks.
Once again, welcome back! I look forward to catching up with you all this term.
A reminder that the P&C AGM is on Tuesday morning at 9am in the library.
Term Planners will go out after this meeting once all important dates from the school and P&C have been decided.
Please put Thursday 27 February in your calendar as we have our Welcome BBQ 4-6PM on the oval that day. The P&C will be catering this event and the Year 5/6 students will be holding a cake stall and ice-creams as a fundraiser for their camp that is happening this term.

Here is a message from Belridge Secondary College:
Transitioning to Secondary Schooling is always a big step, adjusting to a new school environment, finding your way around, getting to class on time, building new relationships and being prepared with the right books and equipment for each class can all be daunting. With the help of our Student Services team, our Year 7 class of 2020 was made to feel welcome and were given the opportunity to explore the school's magnificent grounds with our Year 9 Peer Support leaders.
Our Chaplin, Phil Leenman, guided the students through crocodile infested waters where they employed quick thinking and team work to save each other! The students participated in an orientation race around the school answering questions and enjoyed either a morning or afternoon tea from the cafe.
We are looking forward to seeing our class of 2020 on Tuesday the 10th of December for our full day transition program, which will involve students experiencing various classes such as Home Economics, Design & Technology, Information Technology, Art, Physical Education and Science. More information on this day will be posted to parents and put on our Facebook page.
